Hello, I’m Adam!

Many of us find ourselves living according to expectations that don’t fully fit who we are. Maybe you’ve spent years trying to be the person your family, religion, culture, or relationships expected you to be. Maybe you’re struggling with anxiety, shame, relationship challenges, questions about identity, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself. Whatever brings you to counseling, my goal is to help you better understand your experiences and build a life that feels authentic, meaningful, and aligned with your values.

I work primarily with adults and have a particular passion for working with men. Many men were never taught how to talk about emotions, ask for help, or navigate vulnerability in healthy ways. Instead, they learned to push through, stay busy, or keep difficult experiences to themselves. Counseling can provide a space to explore those patterns, develop new ways of relating to yourself and others, and build the kind of life and relationships you want.

I also enjoy working with clients exploring sexuality, gender, relationship structures, and identity. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex-positive, kink-aware, and welcoming of ethically non-monogamous relationships. I frequently work with clients navigating religious trauma, faith transitions, sexual shame, life transitions, and the challenges that arise when personal values, beliefs, and identities begin to shift or evolve. As someone who has personally experienced the process of leaving a high-control religious environment, I understand both the pain and the growth that can accompany questioning long-held beliefs and rebuilding a sense of self.

My approach is person-centered and trauma-informed. I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment theory, mindfulness, and other evidence-based approaches. Rather than focusing on what’s “wrong” with you, I believe many of our struggles began as attempts to adapt, survive, or protect ourselves. Together, we’ll work to understand those patterns, strengthen your existing resources, and create meaningful change.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent nearly two decades working in creative and educational fields, including graphic design, filmmaking, brewing, and museum education. Those experiences continue to shape my appreciation for the many different paths people take through life.

I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University and currently practice as a Counseling Associate under clinical supervision.

Taking the first step toward counseling can be difficult. If you’re ready to begin exploring what’s getting in the way of the life you want, I’d be honored to work with you.
