The resources listed below are community groups and associations not directly affiliated with Accent Counseling that often also host support and affinity groups.
NAMI Whatcom is a local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization.
“We are dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness by providing free support groups, classes, and education forums to the community. All our programs are free, and led by trained volunteers who either live with a mental health condition or have a loved one with a mental health condition. Our nonprofit operates with the support of our members, donations and grants.”

DVSAS, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services, mission is to support individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and sexual exploitation and to lead the community towards ending these abuses of power. There are groups available and information on their website with additional information.
Mobile Mama is a group of therapists and birth providers offering services and training cohorts in the work of perinatal mental health. Information on upcoming “Tender Transition Support Groups” can be found on their site.
PFLAG is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. The local chapter offers support through support groups, advocacy, and education.
The goal of the Whatcom Perinatal Mental Health Taskforce is to support family well-being by collaboratively building a community standard of care for the prevention, screening, and treatment of perinatal health concerns locally.
DCYF’s Strengthening Families funding supports the Whatcom County Peer Support Groups. All groups are FREE! Groups are drop-in and do not require registration. Please note that for all in-person groups, babies up to about 12 months old are welcome. No childcare is available.
The staff and volunteers at Whatcom Hospice consider it a privilege to support those who are grieving. They are committed to providing a variety of bereavement services to support the many dimensions of grief, including ongoing support groups.
The Whatcom Humane Society believes that all animals, as sentient beings, have value beyond economic measurements and are entitled to legal, moral, and ethical consideration and protection. WHS offers monthly Pet Loss Support Group meetings the first Wednesday of every month at 6 pm at our Division Street Shelter. Their monthly in-person support group provides a safe place for connecting grieving pet guardians with experienced facilitators and other resources.
Bellingham Queer Collective builds community and support for LGBTQIA+ individuals through inclusive programs, affirming spaces, and collective care while intentionally working to expand access and equity across diverse and marginalized communities. They have frequent affinity groups based on common interests or shared identities.
