Welcome to therapy! Together we will work from immediate needs being met to long-term identity exploration and development. We’ll do this with a blend of humor, refreshing honesty, and non-judgement. Your therapeutic journey will be as unique as you are. I will gladly accompany you through (sometimes) uncomfortable work on your quest to wellness and authenticity.
My therapeutic belief is that humans are inherently good and have the capacity for harmful behaviors, and these behaviors are the product of dysfunction. Dysfunction can be related to family, socioeconomic status, trauma, mental health disorders and more. As resources and support needs are met, people will engage in harmful behaviors less.
As we navigate genuine self-reflection, safety, and self-love, we’ll discover ways to bridge who you are with who you want to be.
I earned my Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Jacksonville State University, and then my Masters of Arts in Counseling in Clinical Mental Health from Wake Forest University. I have worked with geriatric clients, families experiencing poverty and domestic violence, and adults and adolescents involved with the criminal justice system. I have also served as the on-call response to residential university students using case management, therapeutic stabilization skills, and assisted clients with disabilities, and mental health and substance use disorders.
When I’m not working, I am typically doing fiber arts including as knitting, crocheting, and spinning yarn. I also enjoy board games, trivia, tie dye, and reading various genres of fiction.
