Marika White (She/Her) LMHCA, Trauma Counseling Certified
Therapist
Adults, Teens, Anxiety, Depression, Disability, Identity Development, LGBTQ2IA+, Life Transitions, Neurodiversity, & Trauma.
About Me:
Hello! My name is Marika and I am an associate counselor. I received my M.A. from Antioch University, Seattle as well as a trauma counseling certificate. I was born and raised in the PNW and love being surrounded by nature. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, playing with my pets, sewing, gardening, or finding a new hobby.
What to Expect:
It takes courage to start, return to, or look for counseling and I appreciate your efforts to get help. My role is to listen and support you in resolving issues in the past or present. In counseling, we will collaborate to work toward your desired outcomes. While I have experience and knowledge in counseling, you are the expert in your life and what is best for you. Counseling can be a big step and I will meet you with warmth, encouragement, and a little humor.
A Note on Trauma:
When we think of trauma, often we think of a single, isolated event. This can be one kind of trauma, but sometimes trauma can be more expansive and harder to describe. You might feel disconnected or hurt without knowing why. Trauma is interconnected with systemic issues and oppression and can show up as painful, every-day moments that seem unconnected at first. Healing from trauma also looks different from person to person, community to community. Some want connection to themselves and their communities. Some want to share their stories. Some want justice. Some want to live their authentic lives. Some just want to talk. I am here to take this journey with you, whichever path you need.
My Approach:
I take a systemic and attachment perspective that looks like paying attention to the context of someone’s life and their relationships to others. My approach has a foundation of Intersectional Feminism while drawing on Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Person-Centered Psychology to provide holistic, anti-racist, LGBTQ2IA+ affirming, and trauma-informed counseling.
