Shakespeare once wrote “Nothing is neither good nor bad thinking makes it so” in the play Hamlet. How we frame our stories and struggles impacts our maneuverability in life’s circumstances. I believe we often feel best when there is more than one option, when we can show up authentically and pick where we are going without being defined by difficulty or letting our lives run on default. Supporting agency over how a client faces their reality is very important to me.
Therapy can be a space that is co-created to navigate experiences, to reflect, and create space to intentionally make meaning. This is how I engage with the therapeutic space. The aim is to empower individuals to grow at the pace they choose with the tools they desire. I value clinician transparency concerning treatment planning and generally within the client-counselor dynamic which is to say there will be no mystery as to why certain methods or assessments are chosen.
My primary approaches to therapy are Person-Centered, Art-Based, Trauma-Focused, and Mindfulness-Based. Topics and professional interests that are in my scope include working with ADHD, anxiety, depression, women’s health, stress management, grief, and emotional literacy. When addressing areas of struggle, I look at these difficulties with a systemic multicultural lens.
In 2024, I graduated from Naropa University where I got my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on Transpersonal Art Therapy. I have worked professionally in the mental health field for two years which includes being a Therapist Aide in the high acuity setting of a Behavioral Health Hospital and being a counselor intern for a Latina owned private practice.
