My name is Annah Burgess, and I am a Mental Health Counseling Intern. I believe that counseling can offer a safe space to slow down and focus on your personal growth and mental health goals, empowering you to move toward a healthy, authentic, and fulfilling life. At the center of all my work is a focus on empathy, connection, and exploration along with a commitment to evidence-based processes.
I will work to help you access your innate abilities for self-healing and resilience. We will collaborate to identify goals, resources, and strategies that fit your individual needs. Whether you are looking for balance, peace of mind while navigating life transitions, or working through mental health challenges such as trauma, anxiety/ depression, or neurodivergence, I offer a safe supportive space to explore paths toward your goals for personal growth.
I utilize a relational, psychodynamic, trauma informed approach rooted in a person-centered method of treatment. This allows us to tailor therapeutic methods to your individual needs. I use dialectic behavioral therapy, mindfulness, parts work, attachment theory, and cognitive behavioral therapy to help you develop tangible tools that can increase self-awareness, regulation, and improve your relationship with yourself and others.
I strive to create an inclusive environment that warmly embraces all cultural backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations and honors the life experiences that make you who you are. I feel privileged to be a counseling intern after nearly 20 years working as a nurse and hope to have an opportunity to work with healthcare workers assisting them to work through trauma exposure and burnout. Having specialized in reproductive health care, I also have a special understanding of the challenges that come with the perinatal period.
In addition to being an intern, I am a mother and ceramic artist. Outside of work you will find me walking or hiking in nature, traveling, adventuring or making art with my family and friends, or enjoying a good book.
I look forward to our meaningful work together.
