Sarah Calhoon’s therapeutic approach is collaborative, integrative, and holistic. She enjoys co-creating an environment that facilitates growth and healing through a reflective and creative process. She believes that we all deserve a safe and supportive space to share our story. Sarah has worked with adults, individually and in groups, in an array of non-profit, clinical, and nursing facility settings for the past six years in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. Her therapeutic work with elders, caregivers, and people living with complex medical and health issues has deepened her belief that human connection supports healing. As a facilitator for grief support groups, she has stewarded the transformation that happens when communities grieve together. For several years, Sarah has co-facilitated an expressive art and process group for women-identified participants. She also enjoys integrating expressive processes in her individual therapeutic work.
Sarah completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Studies at Humboldt State University amongst the redwoods in Arcata, California. At Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, she earned her Masters of Arts Degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling and offered respite support as a Hospice volunteer. Sarah also studied at Naropa University in the Transpersonal Counseling Psychology Masters of Arts program in Boulder, Colorado. While studying there, mindfulness became an integral part of her life and her therapeutic work. Sarah is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon.
When Sarah is away from the office, she loves to travel, hike, laugh, enjoy live music, and spend time in nature. She is always seeking adventures and new experiences and appreciates the endless opportunities the Pacific Northwest offers!
