Marika White (She/Her)

Intern Therapist

Adults, Teens, Anxiety, Depression, Disability, Identity Development, LGBTQ2IA+, Life Transitions, Neurodiversity, & Trauma.

My name is Marika (she/her, pronounced “mar-ih-kuh”) and I am an intern therapist and Master’s of Arts candidate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Antioch University, Seattle. It takes courage to start, return to, or look for counseling and I appreciate your efforts to get help. My role is to listen and support you in resolving issues in the past or present.

In counseling, I will collaborate with you during our time together. While I have experience and knowledge in counseling, you are the expert in your life and what is best for you. We will share similarities and differences in our lived experiences. At times I will not understand what it means to be you. I will do my best to educate myself on, and appreciate, our differences as well as the things we have in common. Counseling can be a big step and I will meet you with warmth, encouragement, and humor.

My approach has a foundation of Multiculturalism and Feminist Theory with a lens of Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, and Person-Centered Psychology. I also draw on Somatic Theory, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems to provide holistic, anti-racist, LGBTQ2IA+ affirming, and trauma-informed counseling.

In my free time, I love spending time with loved ones, walking my dogs, sewing, gardening, or finding a new hobby.
