Laura’s approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and affirming – fostering a space where you are invited to be your whole, authentic self. Laura works from the perspective that while everyone has the inner capacity to thrive, life challenges or trauma can get in the way. As we do our best to adapt to these challenges, strategies that were once helpful may no longer be what we need. By exploring your past and present experiences with compassion, non-judgement, and openness, we will tap into resources within and around you to make way for new insights and skills to apply to your everyday life.
Laura graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Lewis and Clark College, where she also completed a certificate in Ecopsychology (the study of the human-nature relationship). Laura completed a clinical internship where she provided nature-based therapy to children, teens, and adults in an outdoor setting. Prior experience includes a clinical practicum at a community counseling center, volunteer work as an advocate for people experiencing interpersonal violence, as well as a career in music education and performance.
Laura integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches to best suit clients’ goals. As well as Ecotherapy and Gestalt therapy, she incorporates mindfulness, somatic techniques, self-compassion, and attachment theory. Laura also works from a social justice and systems-oriented perspective and centers you as the expert of your experience.
Outside of session, Laura enjoys playing music, time in nature, and connecting with loved ones, including her two cats- Winnie and Hugo.
