We come to therapy to make life better. Drawing upon our strengths, we have the courage to face pain from the past and the present. Courage is what brought you to explore therapy. Let’s see if I am a good fit for you.
I start where you are, based on what you tell me. From there we explore how you got to this place including what is working, what is not working and goals important to you. I help you to feel compassion for yourself. That looks like slowing down and treating yourself like someone you love. I help you develop tools for coping with what is bothering you and tools to dive under and accept or resolve the circumstances. From there, relationships can transform into ones of trust and acceptance or ones we need to change or move back from.
My therapeutic orientation combines strength based, trauma informed, and body based “feel it to heal it” approaches. Specific modalities include mindfulness-based self compassion, acceptance-commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and with some lesser known therapeutic approaches such as Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapy (DARTT), Constructive Narrative therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I have a Masters of Science degree in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and currently provide therapy via telehealth.
